Garston Manor School

Specialist School for Autism, Learning Difficulties and Speech and Language

School Council

Garston Manor’s school council is a group of students who are elected annually from our year 7 to year 10 students to represent the views of all our students and to improve our school. It also includes our head leaders chosen from our current year 11's.

Our school council meets once every half-term - with Mr Steyn present - to share student views and feedback about our school. These may include ideas for improving the school or reflecting on what has gone well.

Members of our school council will be responsible for discussing the suggestions of their family groups and carrying out the ideas that have been agreed. They also support the school, receiving visitors, helping staff around the school and are ambassadors to promote good behaviour.

The school council have previously been on trips to the Houses of Parliament and Watford town hall to learn more about leadership and the British Values including democracy.

School Council meetings are held half-termly.
