Home Learning
Garston Manor School believes that completing regular homework is a beneficial and valuable part
of a student’s education. Not only does it support and extend the learning completed in lessons but
it also enables students to develop independent and confidence at home.
Most students will be given more traditional types of homework on a regular basis, normally in the
form of online activities, worksheets, specific tasks or revision sheets. Decisions about how, when
and why to issue homework, will be made in relation to the individual needs of students or groups
of students.
The non-completion of homework or its return will never be allowed to become an area of
contention between student, parent and teacher. Homework attempted or completed will always
be rewarded. Regular contact between school and home is encouraged to help support parents
with the completion of homework. Students who find completing homework challenging at home
can attend homework club in the library each lunchtime, where a quiet room and an adult to support
are available.
